Thus begins the monologue of the actress who plays the Jabá, the legendary character of Carlos Felipe in Requiem for Yarini. Because not only the myth and the legend correspond to Yarini, but in the Requiem...-Magnificent intuition of Philip, the Jabá occupies the indisputable center of Action. We know of Yarini through her much more than by her own actions. And in this mysterious triangle of the passion that form the Jabá, the Santiaguera and the Macorina, lies much of the magic and the secret imagery of the piece. What better look for the recreation of that world than the passionate-and sometimes stark-version of the Jabá? But in legend, monologue clearly inspired by the work of Philip, as well as in other Cuban (literary and musical) texts, the Jabá is the double; In a way, the alter ego of the actress. And in this case, the center constitutes it, in turn, the secret History, the hidden fable of another woman, an actress who, like the Jabá, lived difficult times, defended with passion the life and the love and, like her, embodies the nostalgia for a city , a lover and a time already lost.
