President of El Ingenio
Ingenio INC. is a multidisciplinary non-profit organization dedicated to producing, promoting, presenting and distributing the performing arts that share a common denominator: Latin culture.
Ingenio Inc. is a factory where the Latin roots are processed, well in pure state, well enriched by a growing and constant interculturality. This factory is born not only to forge its own artistic proposals finished in a city where all the airs of Latin America converge, but also to export to other places through the visual and Scenic Arts, the artistic tendencies born In South Florida, as well as to bring to their community the proposals that other artists with Latin influxes are developing in different corners of the world.
Ingenio Inc. celebrates equality, diversity and inclusion. We embrace and believe in a focus on an inclusive world where there is equal opportunity and equitable outcomes for all.
Unique features of our membership include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ethnicity, race, culture; sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression; age; differences in ability; immigration status, nationality, national origin; education; socio-economic status; family structure; military/veteran status; religious/non-religious beliefs; and local, state and nationally recognised groups/organisations.
Diversity refers to social group differences, such as race/ethnicity, class, gender, sexual orientation, gender preferences, country of origin, disability, cultural, political, religious or other group affiliations.
Equality means recognising and making adjustments to address the consequences of a long history of prejudice and discriminatory treatment that continues to negatively impact black, brown, indigenous, Latino and marginalised communities.
Inclusive practices include active, intentional, meaningful and equitable engagement across the diversity of our community. Acknowledging our diversity while engaging in meaningful ways facilitates greater awareness, knowledge and understanding of the complex ways in which people engage with systems and institutions. Developing these skills and abilities among individual members will begin to address the injustices of the past and lay a solid foundation for the equitable success of our individuals and organisations and, consequently, our nation and the global communities in which we work.
In Ingenio Teatro:
We will ensure fair and inclusive access to our programmes, resources and services and ensure that our policies and practices are inclusive and equitable.
We will foster and maintain a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students and members of the communities we serve.
We will advance and develop our workforce by evaluating hiring practices and performance review procedures to attract, retain and develop talented faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.
We will educate our faculty, staff, artistic team, board members and students to be advocates for social justice by creatively delivering projects, programmes and environments that reflect the diversity of our communities and raise cultural awareness.
